Well, you see, it's all about the space between your ears. What, is this some idea of a joke? Could be, since I've always been a bit of a jokester but, look at it this way. If you were to cut off all the external inputs from the five senses to your brain, what exactly would you have left, except a brain which is disconnected from the "outside world." Correct?
Whereas all of sudden, and I believe there have been studies to confirm this, you find yourself wholly immersed in the imaginary world of your dreams. In other words, "the mind" which, exists in conjunction with the brain, has just been introduced to the very workings of the mind.
Which is to say, the mind is none other than the imagination itself? Yes, so it would seem. In which case you have to ask, am "I," that which you refer to as yourself -- or, the mind -- a wholly imaginary creation that exists solely within my dreams? Indeed, what else could it possibly imply?
It surely doesn't exist beyond its "sensations" of the outside world does it? ... meaning, "outside of the body." If so, then how do you tell if anything is "real," if all that exists between "you" (your mind) and the outside world are the synaptic firings of the brain? Are the neurologists correct here?
So, where does the verification come from then? ... the mind itself? But, how can this be? Is there some sort of "truth ion" floating around, that the mind mysteriously latches onto? Or, how else does it put two and two together, when it's entirely disassociated from that which it observes? ... at least in the "physical sense."
I honestly don't see how you can answer that, unless you are willing to consider that there is more to the imagination than what is generally known. In other words, could it be that it's "connected" via an alternative sense of knowing, beyond the reach of time and space ... as if it were a continuum unto its own, perhaps? The truth may in fact be out there ... but, it is also within us, otherwise we would not know.
Therein you will find proof of God.
"20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you." ~ Luke 17:20-21
